Skin Care Products, Facial, and Organic
There
are an overwhelming number of skin care products on the market, making
it very confusing for a consumer to know what’s right for them.
Newyouskincare.com is here to help. This site is designed to clear the
confusion and provide unbiased information on skin care and the many
products available. This site has several articles in the learning center
and also a frequently asked question section to arm the consumer with
the knowledge necessary to make to right choices for personal skin care.
Our skin is a fickle thing. Many of us struggle everyday with the challenges
our skin presents to us. The reality is skin care is not as complicated
as we make it out to be. The skin on our faces has a large number of
sebaceous glands that produce the oil that many of us try so hard to
eliminate; the truth is we need that oil to protect the fragile facial
skin.
The top layer of facial skin has fewer cell layers than the skin on
the rest of our body (with the exception of the genitals.) The skin
on the face also has an abundance of nerve endings, making it easily
irritated and sensitive to changes. Finding the right skin care for
each person will depend on the type of skin they have. Skin types can
be oily, normal or combination, dry, sensitive, sun-damaged, or acne.
(To determine your skin type see the Face Skin Care article.)
Skin care should be handled in four simple steps: cleansing, moisturizing,
skin care, and exfoliation. A daily routine that involves cleansing,
using a moisturizer, and applying sunscreen with a weekly or monthly
exfoliating treatment keeps skin glowing and youthful.
The first step in skin care is cleansing. The whole point of cleansing
is to remove dirt, debris, germs, excess oils, and left over products.
Use the mildest possible cleanser that still removes dirt and oil. The
type of cleanser used should be dependent on the type of skin the person
has. No one should ever use bar soap or soap meant for the body on the
face! Those soaps are too harsh to use on delicate facial skin.
Use a creamy cleanser on dry skin and an oil-free cleaner on oily skin
and avoid over-cleansing. The face should be washed with the cleanser
every night and rinsed with luke warm water in the morning. Signs of
over-cleansing include tightness or taut skin, rashes, and adult acne.
Never use overly hot or cold water as this can cause broken capillaries.
The next step in applying a moisturizer, everyone needs a moisturizer
even those with oily skin. In fact oily skin can often be reduced with
the use of light-weight moisture. Moisturizing stops the bad skin cycle
and corrects imbalances because they replenish skin’s natural
lipids that help protect skin and maintain moisture. They also cut down
on damage caused by free radicals.
After a moisturizer is applied then use of sunscreen is the next step.
Sometimes sunscreen is built into the moisturizer, this is fine for
a daytime routine, but sunscreen should not be worn at night, so a nighttime
moisturizing cream may be needed. The use of sunscreen is critical
as sun damage is the number one cause of skin damage. It’s easy
to tell when skin needs to be washed or moisturized, but sun damage
is not easily visible so it’s critical that sunscreen should be
included in the daily routine.
Exfoliation is the secret to glowing, youthful skin. Men’s skin
tends to look younger and more youthful because shaving provides them
with gentle exfoliation every day. Exfoliating with microdermabrasion
once a week can yield the same results. For those looking to take years
off their face a monthly chemical peel can do the trick.
Taking these simple steps every day –consistently- will transform skin and leave skin dewy and soft. Remember skin should never feel tight after the daily routine and if it does it may mean the moisture content of the products is not adequate or over-cleansing is taking place. With diligence and regular care beautiful skin is in reach for everyone.
