Skin Care Cosmetics

When dealing with skin care cosmetics can be just as responsible for irritations and out breaks as harsh cleansing and moisturizing products are. It’s important that consumers can identify which ingredients can cause irritation, sometimes it’s purely because the applicator itself has become plagued with bacteria.

Cosmetics have a shelf life, keeping them for longer than they are good for can lead to an accumulation of bacteria and can cause irritation to the skin. Concealers and lipsticks can last for about a year, depending on their quality. Foundations can also last about a year, but smell them before use, if they smell different from when they were purchased toss them.

Mascara goes bad very quickly- after about four months. If a funky, almost fruity smell is noted then it will need to go in the trash. Eyeliners and eye shadows can last for up to three years, but if any kind of build-up is noted on the eyeliner then it should be thrown away.

Good skin care relies on everything that is put on the face, cosmetics included. Don’t risk clear skin for make-up that doesn’t feel comfortable. Make-up should never feel heavy or itchy, look for light-weight hypo-allergenic formulas to keep skin happy and break out free.
